Patient Safety
Infection Control and Patient Measures
At Compassion Smiles, patient safety takes the highest priority for our staff. We aim to not only take precautions and follow guidelines to control any risk of infection, but to ensure that our patients are comfortable and confident in their care.
Our doctors and all of our employees follow all state and federal rules as well as infection control guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. We keep our sterilization area clean and uncluttered. All instruments used for patient treatment are cleaned and sterilized according to set guidelines. Instruments are wrapped or packaged with internal monitors for each set of instruments; this indicates that each set has been properly processed. The instruments are then placed in sealed packages, which protects their sterility until they are needed for patient treatment, when they will be opened. Our sterilizers are tested weekly for effectiveness (according to CDC guidelines).
We would be happy to show you the area where we sterilize our instruments, as well as show you how we sterilize them, during your appointment to give you peace of mind in your care. If you have any questions about the safety protocols that we follow to protect you, please let us know. We would be happy to discuss them with you.
